Catrice Event Haul and Review

Hey Beauties,

I know, this post has been long time coming, I am swamped with lectures, studies and work at the moment and it is only now that I found some time to blog.

As some of you may already know, last February I was invited to attend the Catrice Spring Launch and we were given some products to try out.

Face Products

The first three products are:

1) Colour Correcting Primer: I have yet to try this product out. However, as a first impression from swatching it; it has a green colour to cancel out redness, as its name implies, and it also claims that it is oil free. Which is perfect for oily, acne prone skin and also during the Summer we sweat much more, so an oil free primer is perfect for that time.

2) Translucent Powder: At LAST I found an authentic translucent powder. I cannot tell you how many times I purchase a 'translucent' powder, then I open it and I find that it is coloured powder. To all Make up companies: Translucent means transparent and not with colour. Thank you Catrice for this powder, I really like it and I use it everyday to set my foundation. It did not break me out and my skin remains matte all day.

3) Shimmering Bronzer: I used it the first time last week and I was quite impressed. To be honest, I was somewhat sceptical to try it because I thought that my face would result in being all shimmery and sparkly. However, this bronzer has very fine small shimmers that barely show up, which is perfect for me. Also, it is not that dark, it just creates a sun kissed glow which I look for.

Eye Products

Now on to the eye products:

1) Absolute Eye Colour Pallette in the colour 'F'rosen Yoghurt': I have used this pallette several times now. I almost use it every time I go out. It is perfect to create a subtle natural cranberry look and I find that these colours really complete my eyes. Shadows are pigmented and are quite long lasting. Also, it has a combination of matte and shimmery shadows in it which I rarely find in other pallettes.

2) Absolute Bright Highlighting Pallette in the colour 'Candy Warhol': I use this pallette to highlight. It is a great idea to make a pallette with highlighting combinations to match every eye look. The only downside is that the eye shadow's texture is chalky and after a while that I apply it, it is not there any more.

3) Set of Single Lashes: I have not used this yet

4) Glamour Doll Curl & Volume Mascara: I use this mascara everyday, so I tested it out quite well. It claims that, as its name implies, it curls and volumises at the same time. I have not seen that. I found that it lengthens my lashes and curls them slightly but in terms of volume it fell flat. Also, when I take out the wand from the tube, its like there is no filter at the top to take away the access mascara from the wand, so I almost always end up smearing the mascara on my lid.

Lip Products

1) Ultimate Colour Lipstick in the colour 'Red my Lips': I have not tried this out yet, however when I swatched it, the colour is very opaque and creamy. Looking forward to try it out.

 2) Infinite Shine Lipgloss in the colour 'Pink Twice': I applied this lip gloss the first time exactly after the event ended, in my car :) Love this lip gloss, vibrant colour, perfect for Spring. Also, has a nice smell and is very long lasting. An additional upside to this is that it is not sticky.

3) Made to Stay Smoothing Lip Polish in the colour 'Megan Fuchsia': I also use this product almost every time I go out. It is long lasting, bright colour and its finish is like a lip tint. After most of the colour is off, your lips are still stained so no need to reapply as much.

Nail Products

Received 3 nail polishes. I only used the pink one since it is ideal for the office and everyday. The other two colours are more vibrant and one of them is glittery. From the one that I used, it lasted for almost a week, after the third/fourth day it started to chip.

Have you tried any of these products? If yes, what do you think?

That's all for this post,

Until next time,

Catrice & Essence Haul 2

Heyy Beauties,

So around 2 weeks ago my friends and I decided to visit Gozo and whilst there we went to Arkadia. Of course Rachel and I and our other friend Gail ended up purchasing quite a lot of Catrice and Essence products.

On my part, I really needed a few basic items which I had ran out of:

The first product that I picked up is the Catrice Skin Finish Compact Powder in the lightest color '010 Transparent'. In my previous blog post I mentioned that I wanted to try out a new finishing powder and therefore I decided to try the Catrice one out. Keeping visiting our blog for a review.

Next 2 products are the Catrice False Lashes Mascara 'Fake it!' and Essence Long lasting Eye Pencil in the color 'Black Fever'. I still haven't used the Mascara, however my current mascara is drying out so I thought I better have one ready to use.

I needed a new blending brush and I found the Catrice Double ended Smokey Eyes Brush. I really like the Blending part of the brush. It is small enough to create a V shape and big enough to blend the color out. Also it is quite soft.

The last 3 non- basic items are the: Catrice Ultimate Shine Lipstick in the color '180 Meet Violeta' (right), Catrice Nectar Gloss from the Colibri Collecting in the color 'C03 Gorgeous Blossom' (left) and an Essence eye shadow in the color '55 Shrimp me up' (under).

That's all for today, join our blog for future reviews of these products,

Until next time,

Take Care

What's in my everyday make up bag?

Hi beauties,

I keep my everyday's essentials in a small Makeup bag on my vanity, since it's much easier to reach in the morning rather than going through loads of products.

E.L.F Mineral Infused Face Primer

This primer is amzing. It helps to keep oil at bay, therefore no retocuhing is needed throughout the day.

Rimmel Match Perfection in shade 040 Soft Beige

I use this concealer under my eyes to conceal my under eye circles.

Urban Decay Primer Potion

I use this primer in order to keep my eyeshadow stay put throughout the day.

Sigma F30 brush

With the sigma F30 (a large powder brush with the powder), works perfectly to set my concealer and mattify my face.

Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder

Inglot 330M (Matte)

This eye shadow is a light beige. I use it in the inner corners and brow bone.

Eyelash curler

Rimmel Glam Eyes Day 2 Night mascara

I'd curl my eyelashes first, then put on mascara.

NYX Blush in the shade PB03 Angel

I apply my blush with a small stipple brush in order to achieve a natural finish.

What's in your everyday bag?

July Favorites

Hello Beauties :)

Here are my July Favorites. There are a few products that I like; however there are 5 products which have exceeded my expectations.

The first product is Essence Gel liner in the color Berlin Rocks 03. First and foremost I love the color since it suits my eye color and also I prefer it from straight up Black. The color is a purple color with very tiny shimmers throughout. It has a very creamy consistency and it is highly pigmented. I was also impressed because it stayed on all day and it did not smudge at all. I really like this product and I would recommend it to anyone.

Essence Gel Liner: Berlin Rocks

ELF Angled Eyeliner Brush
I apply this Gel Liner with ELF angled eyeliner brush. It is a very precise brush therefore you can apply it as thick or thin as you want. Also the price beats them all, a quality brush for only 3 sterling J. I think that this brush and the gel liner make the perfect pair.

The next product is Maybelline Colossal Volume Express Mascara. This is one of the best mascaras that I have tried so far. Its formula is perfect for elongating the lashes and building up volume. Also the brush is neither too large and neither too thin therefore it can reach even the smallest of lashes.

Another Maybelline product is the Maybelline Color Tattoo in the color Turquoise Forever. The first thing that caught my eye is the intensity of the color. Personally I love blues and this product’s color is perfect. It has quite a creamy consistency and it applies evenly without tugging your eyelids. It also lasts quite a long period of time and it is perfect as a base for the eye shadow.

The last product is a hair product and it is CHI Silk Infusion. I apply this product at the ends of my hair while it is still damp, before blow drying it. It is a very good heat protecting product and it leaves your hair shiny and silky. I have the smallest bottle of this product and it is not a cheap product however this small bottle has lasted me more than a year, since only a pea size amount goes a long way.

Summer Natural Eye Makeup Look

Hello Beauties :)
Beauty and inspiration is all around us. If we look around us and learn to really look at the nature and environment that surrounds us we really start appreciating the beauty of our world.

During the past weekend my friends and I went to Comino, it is one of the islands that make up the Archipelago of Malta and it also has one of the most beautiful beaches.

The following eye makeup look has been inspired from this photo. Hope you like it.

Step 1:- I concealed my under eye dark circles with Yellow ELF corrective concealer and Deborah Milano concealer.

Step 2:- In the Inner corner of the eye I applie NYX Jumbo Eye pencil in Milk and the rest I applied Maybelline Color Tattoo in Turquoise Forever as bases so as to make the eyeshadow colors last longer and look brighter.

Step 3:- On top of the Jumbo eye pencil I applied expensive pink eyeshadow by MAC and on top of the Maybelline color Tattoo I applied Steamy eyeshadow by MAC with and eyeshadow brush. Do not forget to blend the two colors together in the middle of the eyelid so as to eliminate that harsh line.

Step 4:- I applied the peachy color in the crease and the dark brown color in the outer corner of the eye and blended the two colors together.

Step 5:- I applied Urban Decay 24/7 eye pencil in Binge on the lower eye lid on the out corner.

Step 6:- Last but not least, I applied eyeliner and mascara.

And this is the finished Eye look:

These are all the products that were used:

Hope you liked this eye makeup look tutorial. If there are any suggestions please comment below.

Barcelona Make Up Haul

Hello beauties :)

Three weeks ago, my friends and I went to Barcelona. We had the most wonderful time, sadly we only stayed there for a couple of days, however I still managed to fit time for shopping and visit some sites. It was honestly the most memorable holiday I've ever experienced.

Here are some photos for those who are interested:

Sagrada Família
Parc Guell

Parc Guell

SEPHORA

Inside SEPHORA
This is the make up I bought from Spain. Reviews and swatches shall be posted in the future. Stay tuned!

My most favourite item in this bunch is the Naked 1 Palette from Urban Decay. It was about 35euro. It has 12 super pigmented shadows along with a Primer Potion and Shader Brush

My first MAC lipstick in the Shade Rebel. On the MAC website it is described as a Midtonal crem plum.

Also bought my first MAC eyeshadow in All That Glitters.

To go with Rebel lipstick, I picked a Cargo Lipgloss in Paris.

I've been eyeing Urban Decay pencils for long time. The lip pencil I bought is a pinkish-nude lip pencil in heavy. On the other hand, the eyepencil is a golden brown in Baked.

My most favourite makeup item is mascara. I enjoy trying new ones, especially affordable ones since I can buy several at a time.

NYC volumizing mascara show time in Carbon & NYC Curling brush mascara city curls in Black.

While I was browsing through SEPHORA I saw, some duos for 3 euros. I went with a neutral duo in Hot Brown N03 and a pink dup in Gorgeuos pink N04.

From KIKO I bought a matte highlight eyeshadow single in 130 and a colour sphere in shade 04. I also couldn't resist their soft light powder, mainly a soft shimmer highlighter in 04.

Maybelline, one of my favourite drugstore brand recently launched their 24hr colour tattoo. I couldn't pass this up and picked the colour On and On Bronze.

Similar to the previous cream eyeshadow I picked up an Astra waterproof eyeshadow in pink. It is very similar to Rubeneque Painpot by MAC.

Take care,
Rachel
