Review:- Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation

Heyy Beauties,

I have a review for you today. I am always in search for new foundations, and after reading and watching very good reviews about this product I decided to purchase it. I purchased it from Echemist with the added bonus of free shipping to Malta. It retails for 11.19 euro, which I think is not that bad when compared to other foundations for example an Artdeco foundation which is 15 euro.

Before starting to use the Bourjois Foundation, I was using an Artdeco Foundation which I had been using for about two years, however lately I noticed that it was breaking me out and after taking a look at the ingredients I noticed that it contained lots of parabens and also an ingredient called oxybenzone. Oxybenzone is found in sun screen products and in fact the Artdeco foundation has SPF. Although the Oxybenzone protects the skin from the sun, it is absorbed in our system and can cause damage to cells and affect hormones. So I think that it is this ingredient that is causing my acne break outs.

The Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation does not contain any SPF and upon using for the first time, I noticed quite an improvement in my skin. Its ingredients when compared with those of the Artdeco product are much better with the added benefit of having fruit ingredients. It claims to use "Fruit therapy for radiance and boosting and maintains essential skin hydration". I vouch for this product that it does what it claims. After using it for about a week and a half my skin looks healthier and my acne has dramatically decreased. It also is oil free.

It has medium coverage however it can be full coverage when built up. The down side of this product is that there is a limited range of colors to choose from.

For the packaging, its a plastic packaging so if it falls it does not break, like other foundation packaging, and it has a pump therefore the product is not wasted. Unlike other foundations, which have a plasticy kind of smell, this foundation has a really sweet and fruity smell.

Therefore, to conclude, I highly recommend this product especially for sensitive, oily and acne prone skin since this foundation takes care of your skin.

Have you used this product? What do you think of it?

Hope you found this review helpful,

Until next time,

Take Care,

Jessica :)

Collective HAUL

Heyy Beauties,

How are you all doing? :)

As promised on our Facebook page, here is a Collective Haul of products I bought online.

First off, I had been contemplating for quite a some time, to buy some false lashes and good lash glue. So, I went searching on e-bay last week and found the Duo Lash glue, that everyone raves about on Youtube and some lashes. I found the glue for 7 euro including shipping, and 10 pairs of lashes for about 3 euro with shipping. Great deal in my opinion.

Last Saturday I was browsing around the ELF Cosmetics site and I noticed that they were offering free shipping during that weekend, therefore I could not pass up that opportunity and bought some ELF products, since it was about 6 months from my last ELF purchase.

My first two choices were two lipsticks, Gypsy and Flirtatious. Love both colors and I have to say I was impressed by their quality; very pigmented, apply smoothly and also have a pleasant smell.

Gypsy and Flirtatious

The following are swatches of these two lipsticks:

Gypsy
Flirtatious

Then I chose two blushers and a bronzer because I noticed that I really do not have almost any blushers and bronzers, and the only one I had broke. The first blush is Blushing, then Bronzed and Sun Kissed.

The following are the swatches, in order mentioned above:

Next, I decided to try out the Makeup Remover Pen, that Dyna at Dyna's Random Blog, raves about, and I must say it really does work. Last but not the least, I picked up and Angled Blush Brush because I needed one for contouring.

Those were all the products that I bought,

Hope you enjoyed this post,

Until Next time,

Take Care,

Jessica :)

MOFTN:- Makeup of the Night

Hey Beauties,

So last night I decided succumb to all the hype and went to see the new James Bond movie 'Skyfall', I have to say it's great, you should really go and see it.

I want to share the makeup that I came up with for the night. I tried going with a very subtle cut crease and barbie pink lip.

Whole look

For the face I used:
  • Deborah concealer
  • Maybelline Dream Mat Mousse in the color 030
  • Bright pink blush

For the eyes I used the following products:

  • Deborah Eye Design Quad in the color 'Each and Every Rose'. I applied white all over the eye area, and then with a think brush applied a light brown color in the crease and blended it out.
  • Mua Gel Eye liner
  • Essence Long lasting eye pencil in the color '04 Look at Me'. I applied this in the inner corner.
  • Catrice Fake It Mascara on the top and bottom lashes
For the lips I used a MAC lipstick in the color 'St. Germaine' for the perfect barbie pink color. I applied this with a lip brush so as to minimise the opaqueness of the color.

To curl my hair I used the Remington Pearl curling wand that I bought recently.

That's all for today,

I hope you like this look,

Until next time,

Take Care,

Jessica :)

Review:- Essence Legends of the sky nailpolish

Heyy Beauties,

A few weeks ago I purchased several Essence and Catrice products from Tony's Pharmacy in Gzira and I got the Essence Legends of the Sky in the color 'Like Leo's Pilot Jacket' as a free gift, and I decided to try it out.

02, Like Leo's Pilot Jacket

First off, it is a perfect color for Autumn and Winter. I would say it is a military type of color since it is a mix of Green and Grey. It is quite an opaque color but one coat is not enough to get its full effect. As you can detect from the photo below, the color is not opaque enough after applying only one coat. However, two coats are enough.

1st coat

2nd coat

I was impressed by the drying time, it dried up in a few minutes, compared to other nail polishes which take a long time to dry.

With regards to the packaging, I think it a bit cheap because the cap does not screw all the way, however I don't mind that much since it was a free gift.

Overall, I really like this product and I recommend it to anyone. Looking forward to try out more of these nail polishes.

Hope this review helped,

Until next time,

Take Care

TAG: What's your makeup style

Hey Beauties,
In the past couple of days I was browsing around different beauty blogs and found this tag. Therefore, I decided to do it too :) Hope you like it.

  1. EEK! You've got five minutes to do your makeup for a date. What's your minimum? hmmm for a date!? If I had only 5 minutes to prepare I would just cancel the date hehe. However, the bare minimum would be concealer, foundation and mascara.
  2. Pick a trend: crazy cat eyeliner, super hot pink blush, or feathered false lashes? Definitely, without any doubt, I chose crazy cat eyeliner :)
  3. If you had to either give up all makeup for two months or give up your skincare for a week, which would you pick? This is a tough one. If I give up skincare my skin would break out and if I give up makeup I would feel quite uncomfortable. However, I choose makeup because then it would be harder to cure my skin after one week without any skincare.
  4. What beauty products are always in your purse? I only carry either a lip balm or lip gloss.
  5. Are there any beauty products that you keep coming back to throughout the years? The Body Shop bronzer in the color '01' and Artdeco foundation.
  6. Smoky eyes or red lips? Smokey eyes.
  7. Lipstick or lipgloss? I like both but I prefer lip stick.
  8. Are there any products that you never expected to like but ended up loving? Yes, Lipliner.

That's all, I tag all of you to do this tag, post your responses in the comments below or post them on our Facebook Page HERE.

Until next time,

Take care,

Jessica :)

How to: Carnival/Halloween Look

Hey Beauties,

A few weeks ago one of my best friends visited Venice and gave me a traditional souvenir; a Mask. It is really beautiful and it inspired me to create an eye look based upon it. I think it would be suitable for Halloween and Carnival, for those who do not want to apply exaggerated  makeup.

Step 1:- Apply concealer foundation and powder as needed. Check out how I apply foundation by visiting this link HERE.

Step 2:- apply a light purple color on the lid. I used Essence eye shadow in the color 'In the Clouds'. Simply tap color on to achieve a more opaque color. Leave the inner corner bare for the highlight color.

Step 3:- Apply a dark shimmering purple in the crease and also in the outer corner and blend it out. I applied MAC eye shadow in the color 'Beauty Marked'. Make sure to blend this color with the previous color on the lid for a gradient effect.

Step 4:- Next I applied a light purple shimmer in the inner corner mixed with a silver color for an intensified highlight effect. For the shimmering light purple I used BarryM Dazzle Dust in the color '59' and for the silver color I used the color 'Tinsel' from the Divine Limited Edition Sleek Palette.

Step 5:- I applied purple and fuchsia glitter in the center of my eyelid. I used the fuchsia as a pop of color since the look is quite dark. I used 'Festive' and 'Cranberry' from the Divine Limited Edition Sleek Palette.

Step 6:- Apply a black eyeliner and mascara. I used MUA eyeliner in the color 'Underground' and Catrice 'Fake It' Mascara. As and added touch I applied a silver glitter eyeliner on top of the black eyeliner, I used a Body Shop eyeliner 'Define & Sparkle'.

Step 7:- I applied also the same sequence of colors underneath my eyes and the silver color as a brow bone highlight.

That's the Finished eye look,

Hope you like it, any requests feel free to email us and add us on Facebook HERE

Until next time,

Take Care,

Jessica :)

August & September Favorites

Hey Beauties,

Sorry for the lack of posting but both Rachel and I are very busy at the moment with our work and studies. But bear with us we are trying our best to cope :). So today I have a day off, therefore I decided to post my August and September Favorites. In August I didn't have that much favorites therefore I decided to accumulate them for this month. I have 5 favorite products this month:

First off, my most favorite product is the Essence Long Lasting eye pencil in the color 'Look at me'. I really like this product, it is perfect as an eye highlighter. At the moment I am getting only a couple hours of sleep because I have to study; I found this eye pencil perfect to make my eyes look awake and less red. I apply it in the inner tear duct coupled with a black eyeliner on the lid and some mascara. Also, it can also be used as a base: Perfect! Swatches of this product can be found HERE.

Next up is the Catrice Fake It Mascara. This is a new found favorite. I bought it a couple of weeks ago, however I have been applying it ever since. At first I didn't like it that much, but then after applying approximately 3 coats my lashes are longer and more voluminous. Also, check this wand out!!! I have never seen anything like this, it is perfect for building up volume and to coat even the smallest of lashes. Great Product!

The third product is Deborah Milano Eye Design Quad in 'Each and Every Rose'. I have been using this quad for work because it contains natural colors. I really like these colors and are perfect for any eye color. Also, the eye shadows are quite pigmented and not powdery. This quad is a must have for those who are still starting with applying eye shadows.

The next product is Catrice Skin Finish Compact Power in the color '010 Transparent'. I really like this product since it matifies my skin  and lasts quite a long time. Another thing is that it is quite a large product and very inexpensive, I bought it for only 4.50 euro. Another great product.

Last but not the least, is a perfume. I have numerous perfumes, however lately I have been loving Harajuku Lil' Angels in Lovers. It is a sweet scent with a hint of vanilla. It is not an overpowering smell, therefore it is great as an everyday scent. Also, the packaging is so cute :). The downside is that it is very small, only 1.0 fl oz or 30ml.

Have you tried any of these products?

That is all for today, until next time

Take Care

Jessica :)
